Born in North Texas and raised in North Eastern Pennsylvania, Robert Ashford is an advocate for all individuals seeking long-term recovery. Robert holds a Bachelor of Social Work with minors in Addiction Studies and Psychology from the University of North Texas, and a Master of Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy and Practice (SP2). Robert is also currently pursuing his PhD in Health Policy at the University of the Sciences. Robert has served as a policy fellow for the Hillary Clinton Campaign and the Treatment Research Institute in Philadelphia. Robert has been the recipient of many prestigious awards, most notably the University of Pennsylvania President’s and Provost’s Citation for Excellence in Service (2017), NADAAC’s Young Emerging Leader Award (2014), Young People in Recovery’s Advocate of the Year (2014), and the University of North Texas Founders’ Award (2015). Robert is also an appointee of the Mayor’s Task Force to End the Opioid Epidemic in Philadelphia, a current national planning partner for the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), and a past appointee to the Council for Advising and Planning for the Department of State Health Services in Texas.
